beginning of the long story course

Hello everyone,

I hope you are fine.  I have been waiting to find out more about the classes and the number of students to complete the syllabus but we seem to have to wait more. Therefore, for now, I will let you know about the beginning of the course. I will send you the complete syllabus later.
 
For the long story course, we are going to study at least five (long or short) novels. The first two will be The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. James's story might be available online. We are going to have a brief history of novel, its different forms and narrative techniques and will focus on modernist and postmodernist works.

A few articles and book sections will be studied, including Narrative Fiction by Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan (which is available in the market and you may start studying it immediately).

As you know, you are expected to read the novels completely and carefully. Do take notes while you read and try to detect the main elements of these works.
